On the 15 December 2020, EventScotland launched the £6 million Pivotal Event Businesses Fund to support those event businesses which are critical to Scotland’s events sector, and without which the capacity to deliver major events would be significantly reduced. Those businesses that met the eligibility criteria were asked to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) form by 22 December at 5pm.

We are aware that a small number of businesses were unable to complete the EOI, due to the initial deadline being so close to the festive period. In light of industry feedback and the current COVID-19 situation, we have therefore taken the decision to briefly re-open the EOI stage, from 12pm on Wednesday 13 January to 5pm on Monday 18 January.

There has been no change to the criteria of the fund and those submitting an EOI form must still meet the eligibility criteria including: having annual turnover in excess of £500k prior to the COVID-19 pandemic; be directly involved in the delivery and organisation of at least five major events, festivals or conferences each year; employ a minimum number of staff, and events must be the primary source of the organisation’s income.

As with the initial stage, those businesses which meet or exceed the eligibility criteria, and which are assessed to represent a sectoral and geographical spread of the most significant event organisers, suppliers and venues operating in Scotland, will then be invited to submit a full application with dates for submitting the application to be confirmed at this time.

Organisations who have already submitted an unsuccessful EOI will not be eligible to re-submit an EOI form.

Paul Bush OBE, VisitScotland’s Director of Events, said: “Scotland’s events industry continues to be severely impacted by the ongoing effects of COVID-19 and we want to do all we can to ensure its survival during this difficult time.

“We have listened to the industry’s feedback on this fund and we will re-open the Expression of Interest form for the Pivotal Event Businesses Fund for a short period of time to give those eligible businesses that were unable to complete the form in December the chance to do so.”
