Forty performers from The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo travelled to the buzzing heart of Shanghai last week to perform in China for the first time in the military event’s history.

Performers from Pipers Trail, Tattoo Dance Company and Hjaltibonhoga (Shetland Fiddlers) delighted audiences with a taste of the Tattoo at the Shangai Spring International Music Festival through a series of exciting performances, which included the Festival’s opening and closing ceremonies as well as a special outdoor performance for the Mayor of Shanghai.

They were greeted by local fans who lined the streets to see the iconic sights and sounds of Scotland.

The visit, attended by Assistant Head of Marketing, Lindsay Strachan, is the latest move by organisers at the Tattoo following extensive dialogues with Chinese delegates as they continue to push forward with plans to take the show overseas to the country before 2025.
