Edinburgh got a little extra dose of magic on Friday as the Cast of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo marched through the city centre ahead of their evening performance.

With pipes playing, drums beating and hundreds of performers bringing plenty of colour and character to the capital, the Cast turned heads as they made their way through the city giving tourists, locals and unsuspecting Friday shoppers a taste of the spectacle before showtime.

And making plenty of noise was the Tattoo Pipes & Drums on the March, which formed the largest single Pipe Band in the world, featuring 40 pipers, 21 drummers and four Drum Majors.

The lively march offered a glimpse of the international talent taking to Edinburgh Castle’s Esplanade this August for A Call To Gather, this year’s spectacular show featuring more than 800 performers from around the world.
