Events Industry Council appoints Augustine Chijioke as Director of Certification & Education 

The Events Industry Council (EIC), the global voice of the business events industry on advocacy, research, professional recognition and standards, have announced the appointment of Augustine (Gus) Chijioke as Director of Certification & Education.

Gus’s remit for EIC includes directing the CMP and CMP-HC credentialing programme – recognised globally as the badge of excellence in the events industry, to ensure that the examination programme continues to adhere to the highest test development and administration standards; and continuing to grow and develop the organisation’s educational products and services.

As we navigate the adaptations and innovations necessary post pandemic, our workforce continues to demonstrate its resilience and a remarkable commitment to lifelong learning. Gus will play a key role for the EIC as we continue to deliver relevant high-quality education and make it available and easily accessible to an increasingly global audience.”  

Commenting on his appointment, Chijioke said: “I’m excited to be working with the EIC and its talented team. Education will play a critical role supporting our members and the wider industry, as individuals and businesses rebuild over the coming months and years. We have ambitious plans to extend the reach and scope of our Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Examination programme as part of the EICs wider strategy to extend its global footprint, and I’m looking forward to helping the team achieve its ambitious plans for growth.” 

Previously, Gus was Director, Membership & Certification at Capital Association Management, where he was responsible for the management of several association certification boards (AABC Commissioning Group (ACG), Energy Management Association (EMA), & Associated Air Balance Council (AABC), and served as the program and project manager on various initiatives. Gus has also held the positions of Manager, Database & Membership Operations Manager and Recertification & Health-System Specialist at the American Pharmacists Association (APhA).
