Crieff High School and Crieff Hydro Hotel have joined forces give pupils at the school a taste of what a career in the hospitality sector can offer.

The school and the hotel have agreed a three-year partnership agreement which will see Crieff High School pupils take part in a range of experiences at the hotel including workplace visits, mock interviews and work placements.

Many hospitality businesses have struggled with the post-Covid challenges of recruitment and by working in partnership with the local school, Crieff Hydro will have access to a pool of local young talent.  The pupils in turn will gain a first-class experience of the world of work which will help to prepare them for whatever pathway they choose beyond school.

John Donnelly, Headteacher of Crieff High School, said: “After a challenging time for everyone over the last two years, it is fantastic to work so closely with Crieff Hydro again.  Our partnership has always been a mutually positive one and this commitment further consolidates this relationship.”

David Macluskey, Service Manager – Secondary, Perth & Kinross Council said: “I am delighted to see the reinvigoration of this successful and dynamic partnership which is close to my heart. Crieff Hydro is one of our key local employers in Perth and Kinross and this agreement will benefit all parties- in particular our young people from Crieff High, so it`s fantastic to see

Learning and Families Convener Councillor John Rebbeck added: “This is a great example of how schools can work with local businesses to give our children and young people experience in the world of work.

I am sure this will benefit school leavers, whatever career path they choose to follow.”

Crieff Hydro staff will work collaboratively with teachers involved in subjects related to travel and tourism  to engage pupils in career routes across a range of sectors and will soon welcome pupils into their departments, including front of house, event management, maintenance, entertainment and outdoor activities.

Kristian Campbell, General Manager of Crieff Hydro Hotel and Murraypark Hotel, said he is looking forward to welcoming Crieff High School pupils to the Hotel and added: “We are delighted to have this agreement and partnership together with Crieff High School.

It’s important for us to work closely together, and we hope we can help the students with exposure into Hospitality, show them the great things it can bring, and the career it can build.”
