Both UKEVENTS and the National Outdoor Events Association (NOEA) have congratulated Susan Tanner following her re-election to the Board of the Tourism Alliance, where she will continue to represent UKEVENTS and the interests of the industry for a further three-year term.

Susan, who is also CEO of NOEA and Vice Chair on the board of UKEVENTS, was re-elected by members of the Tourism Alliance and will retain her position, ensuring the sector continues to have a voice at the highest levels of tourism policy, advocacy and industry engagement.

The Tourism Alliance brings together more than 60 tourism industry organisations and acts as the sector’s primary representative body to government. Its work spans policy development, consultation and industry collaboration, helping shape the future direction of tourism across the UK.

For NOEA, Susan’s re-election represents continued recognition of both her leadership and the importance of events within the wider visitor economy. Events are estimated to drive around half of all tourism activity, creating demand for accommodation, hospitality, transport, attractions and local services, while generating significant economic and social value for destinations across the UK.

Commenting on her re-election, Susan Tanner said: “Events play a vital role in supporting tourism, driving economic activity and creating memorable experiences that bring people together. It is important that the voice of our industry continues to be heard in discussions that shape the future of tourism. I look forward to working with colleagues across the Alliance to ensure events remain an integral part of those conversations and to champion the contribution our sector makes to communities, destinations and businesses throughout the UK.

Glenn Bowdin, Chair of UKEVENTS, added: “I would like to congratulate Susan on her re-election to the Tourism Alliance Board and thank her for continuing to represent UKEVENTS in this important role. Her continued presence ensures that the vital contribution of the events sector is represented at the highest level. The role of business and leisure events in driving growth in the visitor economy is increasingly recognised. UKEVENTS plays a key role in advocating for the events industry and having that voice in the Tourism Alliance is essential as we work collectively to support growth and the long-term success across events and tourism.

Susan’s re-election builds on NOEA’s growing role in national industry representation. In addition to her position on the Tourism Alliance Board, she also represents the events sector on both the Tourism Industry Emergency Response Group (TIER) and the Major Events Operational Response Group, helping ensure the interests of event organisers and suppliers are represented during discussions around resilience, operational planning and sector-wide challenges.

The re-election ensures the events sector will continue to have a strong advocate within the Tourism Alliance as the industry works collaboratively with Government and partners across the wider visitor economy to support growth, resilience and long-term success.
