Fourteen new members have joined the Scottish chapter of the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) after a surge in demand for best practice, education and venue showcase meetups.
A series of events covering industry trends and spotlighting new openings has helped SITE Scotland grow to almost 50 members – it’s largest ever number – as appetite grows for regular networking events.
Emily Shields, SITE Scotland President, said: “It has been really exciting to see the passion and enthusiasm for the Scottish Chapter. We have worked hard this year to expand our membership so that it is seen as relevant for the whole of Scotland and not just Edinburgh.
She adds: “We now have members from Glasgow, Fife and Inverness which is testament to this and we will continue to build on this throughout 2019. There is a great energy within the board and this is definitely reflected in the growing membership. We are looking to achieve 50 by the end of the year which is the largest the Chapter has ever been.
“It is also really important that we can show a great return on investment (ROI) and so our members not only benefit from the extensive networking opportunities but it is also a really effective platform for sharing best practice, industry trends and education.”
The chapter has also increased its online activity with regular updates from its LinkedIn and Twitter accounts, with tweet impressions recently going up by 103% following IMEX America.
“The Chapter is also hugely collaborative and we have created an exciting calendar of events where members have the opportunity to see the latest openings, hear from inspiring speakers and showcase the wonderfully diverse Scottish incentive offering,” said Emily.
SITE Scotland members recently visited V&A Dundee, hosted by Alice Kennedy, Tourism Officer at V&A Dundee, and Fiona McLellan, Director of Sales at Heritage Portfolio, the venue’s caterer.
Members were also invited by Phil Bailey, Group MICE Sales Manager for Apex Hotels, to tour Apex City Quay Hotel along the quayside; the venue has recently undergone a £2.4m revamp and erected a 1,000-seater marquee to bring larger events to the city.
Looking forward, SITE Members will meet for the last time in 2018 at the Principal Charlotte Square on Tuesday, 4th December for a review of 2018 – followed by cocktails.
