Ten successful creative teams have been selected to go forward into full production for next year’s Festival UK* 2022. This includes Scotland’s selected team which features organisations including Aproxima Arts, Celtic Connections, Fèis Rois, BEMIS Scotland, James Hutton Institute, Sustrans, Scotland’s Rural College and getMade Design.

Festival UK* 2022 will take place across Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales next year. EventScotland is the Strategic Delivery Body for Scotland. It will deliver a programme of ten ground-breaking new commissions with the ambition of reaching millions, bringing people together and promoting the UK’s creativity and innovation to the world. The ten teams have been selected following an innovative three-month funded research and development programme which included 30 teams made up of over 500 creatives from across STEAM, including more than 100 freelancers.

The commission being developed by the Scottish team aims to demonstrate the power of collective action in the largest ‘grow your own’ project of modern times. Involving schools and communities across Scotland, the UK and beyond, it will take a unique approach to community growing celebrating music, future food technology and sustainable festivals, and empowering hundreds of thousands of people to grow and share food and music.

Paul Bush OBE, Director of Events said: “Scotland has a long and proud history of innovation and invention – it’s a place where great minds connect and collaborate. We are delighted to be able to support a hugely passionate and committed team, drawn from a range of STEAM sectors to continue showcasing Scotland’s wealth of originality through the development of a wonderful project which has community spirit, creativity and sustainability at its very heart.”
