Stuart Andrew has been named as the new tourism minister, replacing Lord Kamall, who was in post for just 40 days.
The tourism minister works for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and has responsibility for the business events industry, including conferences, meetings, exhibitions and tradeshows.
Minister Andrew has been the MP for Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough since 2010. In 2012, he was made Parliamentary Private Secretary to Francis Maude MP. In the 2015 general election, Stuart was re-elected and took on the role of Parliamentary Private Secretary to Patrick McLoughlin MP.
Responding to the announcement, a statement from VisitBritain read: “We are delighted to welcome The Rt Hon Stuart Andrew MP as the new Minister for Sport, Tourism, and Civil Society, and Minister for Equalities, appointed by The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).”
