After almost 5 years at the Old Course Hotel, Martin McAvoy has joined Hibernian Football Club as the new Head of Venue Sales. McAvoy saw the hotel go through an incredible refurbishment and was lucky to travel the world and meet wonderful clients and industry colleagues. He worked under the Kohler brand who were a strong support over the duration of the pandemic, and fondly considers his Old Course colleagues’ good friends.
He has previously worked in football and as an avid fan, it remains close to his heart. When the conversation started with Greg McEwan (Commercial Director) and Ben Kensell (CEO) about the exciting plans under new owner Ron Gordon, he jumped at the opportunity and was eager to join the new journey Hibernian FC are about to embark on. As Head of Venue Sales, he is tasked with the responsibility for revenue growth, with key focus areas of driving ticket, hospitality, conference, and banqueting sales.
As a Leith lad, lifelong Hibernian fan and previous season ticket holder, walking through the doors of Easter Road Stadium was a hugely proud and exciting moment. He looks forward to the challenge ahead and being part of the dynamic team making Hibernian FC one of the most forward thinking and innovative clubs in the country.
