Gleneagles has appointed Ashley Thomson as its new Director of International Sales, with responsibility for the North American leisure and European MICE and leisure markets.

Ashley, who has lived and breathed the iconic Perthshire hotel in her role as Scottish Regional Sales Manager for the last seven years, will be focusing on developing relationships with key agents and travel partners across the USA, France, Germany and Switzerland.

Prior to joining the Gleneagles team in 2011, Ashley held sales roles at MacDonald Hotels and Radisson Hotel Group for almost nine years, having gained a degree in Marketing and Hospitality at the University of Strathclyde and completing a graduate training programme with Radisson Hotel Group.

Glasgow-raised Ashley has recently steered Gleneagles’ Scottish sales strategy through the biggest investment project in the hotel’s history. Over the last two years the hotel has benefited from a multi-million pound renovation programme that has created an exciting, glorious playground full of surprises and fun things to do for all our guests.

“It’s a fantastic time to be developing my career at Gleneagles, and I cannot think of a more exciting brand,” said Ashley. “Our investment programme has completely transformed Gleneagles – taking what was already an iconic product to a whole new level – through beautiful designs that salute our rich history and signal the future.

“Gleneagles is a destination like no other. From its world-class golf courses, award-winning spa and country pursuits, to its Michelin-starred dining and breath-taking location, I couldn’t be more proud of where I work.”

Conor O’Leary, Gleneagles’ General Manager said: “Gleneagles has always enjoyed welcoming guests from around the world and Ashley’s appointment will help us to grow our international recognition.

“Scotland is one of the most beautiful countries in the world with a fascinating history and rich culture, offering an incredible range of leisure experiences – the extraordinary scenery, the warmth in hospitality make it an appealing destination to overseas guest.   Gleneagles represents the very best of all that Scotland has to offer.”

Ashley added: “I’m really excited about developing our partnerships and meeting as many clients as possible – I look forward to sharing with them everything I know and love about Gleneagles and my home country – Scotland.”
