Top business events organisers from the US visited Edinburgh Castle yesterday to watch a rehearsal of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
In a familiarisation trip organised by the Business Events team at VisitScotland, the representatives of nine companies were treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the military and musical spectacular, which kicks off later this week.
Designed to show the delegation why Scotland is the perfect stage for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE), the group were also scheduled to visit the Royal Yacht Britannia, the Balmoral Hotel, the Cannonball Restaurant and Bar, as well as Hopetoun House in South Queensferry.
This is followed up today by a trip to Perthshire, where they will take in Scone Palace, Gleneagles and Glenturret Distillery.

The ‘fam’ trip is part of the third annual instalment of the eVent: THE UK SUMMIT, a three-day networking and education event hosted by VisitScotland Business Events and London & Partners – the official promotion company for the UK capital.
This year’s eVent was held last week, with Scottish partners Cashel Travel, The Fairmont, the Balmoral, Gleneagles and MacDonald Hotels & Resorts joining VisitScotland Business Events in London for a series of business-to-business appointments and a seminar.
Richard Knight, Senior Marketing Manager – The Americas at VisitScotland Business Events, said: “North America represents the largest international MICE market into Scotland and is the biggest business events market in the world. The eVent programme is hugely important in raising awareness of what Scotland has to offer among North American incentive and corporate buyers. We have gathered some of the most prolific MICE agencies and corporations from around North America to attend this flagship event.
“However, the best way to show them the attractiveness of our product is to bring them to the destination and our familiarisation trip to Edinburgh and Perthshire allows us to showcase a range of unique and exclusive venues alongside an exciting array of activities that visitors can experience.”
The US companies represented omn the trip were as follows:
Egencia

HMI inc.
HPN Global
ITA Group
