EVENTIT and Catch the MICE are delighted to welcome The Power of Events to their autumn Roadshow series in Leeds, Leicester and London next week as part of their nationwide tour.

The original launch programme for The Power of Events Industry Insight App had 15 dates booked out to visit key industry events and University Research Partners across the four nations, but due to popular demand the tour now extends to over 30 events to the end of November, with a mixture of trade events, awards and bespoke sessions added into the schedule. Events recently held across the Four Nations included at the EICC in Edinburgh, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Ulster University and across England. Other locations included in the original launch tour included Bournemouth, Birmingham, London, Manchester, Sheffield, Wakefield, Guildford, Leeds and Ipswich.

Key Tour Takeouts
One of the key features on the tour has been the fantastic levels of engagement from both students and industry professionals attending the events. For students the main focus has been on the fantastic resource that www.thepowerofevents.org platform offers them in terms of insight and understanding how the events industry works across the seven core sectors, an introduction to all the main supporting communities and the chance to see the range of engagements available on the events industry calendar. For event professionals the main takeaway has been understanding the breadth and range of their industry communities, downloading and registering on the Event Industry Insight App as well as the need to support, share and suggest in order to ensure that the event industry is respected and valued as a world class creative industry.

The app, which was suggested by the industry itself during the scoping and development work for The Power of Events – is a digital tool designed to improve the breadth of reach and quality of data produced across all sectors and will help generate really credible insights into so many key issues – from sustainability to accessibility, DEI to career development routes. It is a tool aimed to primarily help industry association and university partners with their research projects. Everyone agrees that our complex industry provides multiple data points from each sector but that this often creates a limited understanding of the broader eco-system that we operate in.

Rick Stainton, Founder of The Power of Events comments – “There is a clear need to provide the means of producing a cross industry picture looking at insights and trends. As many other industrial sectors have demonstrated, a consistent approach to data asks and research methods enables comprehensive input from all the component parts and players involved in that sector. The Event Industry Insight App is the innovative solution to this problem, providing scale, representation and a dynamic user experience when compared to so many of the free survey software we’ve been bombarded with over the last few years.”

Pending Projects
Additional launch activity now looks to extend into December – more details are available on the events calendar on the platform. The other two major projects also devised from industry feedback are in final stages of development. Scheduled for delivery before Christmas is a brand new Careers Hub section for the platform focussing on employment routes and progression in the industry. As usual we’ve been getting industry input from across all the seven sectors into routes into the industry, the types of employment available and the most common job roles and skills required to deliver those roles. The second project is the UK wide Schools Engagement programme which launches with a pilot in the East of England to 85 schools in the region in Jan 2024. It is mapping volunteer ambassadors into their local schools, having secured a significant number of opportunities through our specialist education outreach partner Form the Future. Work on the design of the presentation material is also in hand, to ensure that it is providing a comprehensive overview of all the seven sectors as well as the breadth and range of career opportunities that are available.

The Power Of Events (UK) is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to: deliver a comprehensive communications platform alongside an Event Industry Insight app to support the UK events community. Ultimately the mission is to create better understanding, value and respect for the UK Events Industry.
