Congratulations to all the Scottish nominees and winners at the M&IT Awards 2022, including Scottish Event Campus for winning Gold for the Best UK Conference Centre and to Glasgow Convention Bureau for winning Gold for the Best UK Convention Bureau.

The sector turned out in force for the M&IT Awards 2022, with more than 700 event professionals in attendance at Battersea Evolution to celebrate the great and good of the industry.

The evening began with a minute’s silence for the Queen, before compere Ore Oduba took to the stage to get proceedings underway.

The first award of the night saw Lisa Lernoux-Dock of Iconic Luxury Hotels prove a popular winner of the Personality of the Year award, earning a standing ovation. Presenting the award, ICCA president and ExCeL London executive director James Rees said Lernoux-Dock had been a beacon of positivity over the last 12 months, and that “in a sector that is all about making connections, she is one of its greatest connectors.”

After dinner, Events R Talented winner Johanna Potkin wowed the crowd with a flute performance before the Events R Talented team staged a thrilling take on Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, complete with audience interaction.

In the main awards, Glasgow Convention Bureau picked up the Best UK Convention Bureau award for an incredible 16th year running. Venues & Events International scored a gold award win for Best Intermediary Agency (fewer than 40 employees) for the second consecutive year, while Park Regis Birmingham also achieved the feat in the Best UK Hotel category.

But it wasn’t all about returning winners; the night had its fair share of new awards too. Best Incentive Provider went to YES Group, Conference Care was awarded Best Sustainable Initiative and Diverse Speaker Bureau took home the Best Diversity & Inclusion Award.

The night also saw industry charity Meeting Needs raise more than £11,000 with a table raffle, before eventprofs danced the night away into the early hours to live band Flood The Floor.

M&IT editor Paul Harvey said: “It was such a thrill to come together and honour the sector after what has been such a busy and hectic 12 months for so many of us.

“Everywhere I look, event professionals are working harder than ever, planning and delivering events with the wow factor for their clients and delegates, helping them stay connected – that’s what we celebrate at the M&IT Awards.

“Congratulations to all our winners and finalists, huge thanks to all our sponsors, and thank you to everyone that attended for making it such a special night.”
