The First Minister has outlined further details on Scotland’s route out of lockdown which supports a move back into a more flexible way of combatting the virus whilst reopening our economy and society.

The announcement sets out how and when the Scottish Government plans to lift the current coronavirus restrictions over the forthcoming weeks and months, with indicative dates being shared conditional on supportive data.

Given the progress with the vaccination programme and its impact on reducing transmission of the virus, from 17 May it is hoped that small-scale outdoor and indoor events can resume subject to the agreement on attendance number which will be discussed with the events sector.

Paul Bush OBE, Director of Events, said: “Today’s latest COVID-19 Strategic Framework update from the First Minister is welcome news. It provides optimism for Scotland’s events sector with the potential return of small scale indoor and outdoor events from the 17 May, subject to the agreement on attendance numbers.

“We look forward to continuing to work with Ministers, the Scottish Government and the Event Industry Advisory Group on the ongoing development of plans and attendance numbers for the return of events in Scotland.”
