With the sun shining outside and the mercury hitting a relatively balmy 20 degrees (by Edinburgh standards), a group of MICE industry professionals got together to ‘celebrate’ Christmas.
For all intents and purposes onlookers would have thought it quite strange to see a group of people enjoying a yuletide party at the city’s DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre, on Bread Street, surrounded by tinsel.
In fact the ‘Christmas in July’ get together had been arranged by the hotel as a way of promoting its seasonal offer to event planners and bookers looking for options over what is always a crowded festive season.
“Last week DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre’s conference centre became all things festive with its Christmas in July event,” said Catherine McCurdy-Fowler, Marketing Manager for the hotel.
“It was a hugely fun night and attendees enjoyed stunning carol singers on arrival with bubbly and Christmas cocktails. Then more singing in the penthouse, a fun Christmas quiz with prizes, Christmas canapes, and even Santa.
“This was all topped off with mulled wine, baileys hot chocolate and Christmas stockings filled with goodies. Staff were on hand to answer any questions about the venue and happy to spread lots of cheer. It was an entertaining evening and of course with Edinburgh’s stunning skyline as the backdrop, offered unrivalled views of the city.”
The event took place in the hotel’s SKYbar and featured the Edinburgh gay men’s chorus singing carols, a Christmas quiz, presents, mulled wine and the obligatory party hats.
