The Power of Events
The Power of Events – a not-for-profit organisation launched in Feb 2023 to answer the challenge – where’s the ONE place any current, next generation event professional, national media or government can go to explore a map of the breadth and value of our UK Events Industry – gain insight, support, data and connections to the appropriate communities? See www.thepowerofevents.org
It’s in full motion and to become the best it can be in reality we obviously need the industry’s continued help – its support and engagement across the UK Events industry is unprecedented.
Most of the main trade associations, media publications, and support organisations across sustainability, DEI, welfare and skills are collaborating and profiled on the platform, alongside an industry events calendar, top podcast and online communities showcase.
10 Universities from across the Four Nations are confirmed partners, with several more in discussion.
Recent business supporters coming on board in just the last few months as examples include Glastonbury, Live Nation, Festival Republic, AEG Europe, ASM Global, Harvey Goldsmith, ExCel London, NEC Group, London Marathon Events, Great North Run, Notting Hill Carnival, SFL Group, Whitelight, G4S Events, Arena Group, Creative Technology, Entourage Pro, Ticketmaster, Star Group Live, Pearce Hire, VISION 2025, Jack Morton, Identity, GPJ, Smyle, Cheerful 21st, DPRG, Wasserman, CWT, Freeman, TRO, GL Events, LS Events, Informa plc, 365 EVENTS and Easyfairs among circa 500+ who have confirmed their support over the last few months, spanning the 4 Nations and 7 core sectors.
Future projects plans include a data insight research app launched in Oct 23 through a wide UK roadshow tour at over 25 industry and University partner events, a new Careers Hub section on the platform in January 2024 on the platform simply defining the broad range of job roles across the industry and the skill sets required to secure them, as well as the 5 core entry routes into the UK events industry – direct recruitment, event apprenticeships, internships, work placements and Skills qualification development.
Finally, we have a Schools Engagement mission to go into the 4210 secondary schools and present The Power of Events to them within the next 5 years – addressing the need to showcase the diverse career opportunities and broad range of event types to attract the next generation which is even more important than ever. A pilot scheme is being developed in one region, East Anglia, to launch in January 2024 to circa 85 schools.
