Creating an inclusive business culture will be top of mind for the PCMA at this year’s IMEX Frankfurt event – the business events industry’s largest European gathering place taking place this month.
New PCMA President and CEO Sherrif Karamat will discuss his vision for the organisation and the business events industry, including engagement in Europe, at the event starting on May 14.
Karamat will talk about Ascent, PCMA’s new initiative to promote an inclusive business culture aimed at educating and empowering business events strategists globally. He will invite fellow CEOs to join him in signing the Ascent CEO Promise, a commitment to creating and maintaining truly inclusive workplaces.
“This year PCMA is focusing not only on excellent educational content but also on being true leaders in the business events community’’, Karamat said. “We want to expand our horizons, to empower our team to build a bold and fearless culture, where people are encouraged to experiment and find the possibilities that can emerge from a vision shaped by purpose.”
Karamat will moderate a panel discussion at IMEX in Frankfurt on Monday, 14 May, entitled Women in the meetings industry – on eye level with men?. The panel is part of the newly launched She Means Business conference for meetings and events strategists, looking at the critical issues facing women in the meetings industry. It was created by IMEX Group in partnership with tw tagungswirtschaft magazine.
PCMA’s outreach in the region continues to grow. Its second European Influencers’ Summit opens for registrations in May. The event, in Seville, Spain on 23-25 September, invites CEOs and other senior professionals from across Europe to an interactive programme centred on embracing disruption and unconventional thinking in the digital age.
Under the leadership of Luca Favetta, Regional Business Director, EMEA, PCMA’s European Advisory Board will guide the rollout of PCMA educational products and services for the business events industry in the region. New board members in 2018 are Chantal Van ES – Head of Sibos, SWIFT; Andrea Faflikova – Regional Senior PR & Event Manager, The LEGO Group and Alessandro Cortese – CEO, ESTRO.
Building on its successful Knowledge Exchange series (regionalised platforms of senior-level education), PCMA launched the 2018 programme with two topical sessions in Barcelona and Madrid last month, focusing on safety and crisis communication. PCMA will hold three additional sessions this year in London and Barcelona at IBTM World.
PCMA will also host two educational sessions at IMEX in Frankfurt. A programme on 14 May, part of IMEX Business School, will look at how companies, particularly in Europe, have successfully challenged and disrupted their own strategies to change their business models. The second session, on 15 May, in partnership with IAPCO, will explore the impact of participant engagement on brand loyalty.
For more information, join PCMA team members and Karamat for coffee on Wednesday, 16 May (09:45 – 10:30) on stand C260 at IMEX in Frankfurt.
IMEX takes place at Messe Frankfurt 15 – 17 May 2018.
