This Christmas, Dalkeith Country Park is proud to announce the launch of WinterFest 2024, featuring a brand-new, eco-friendly Ice Rink as the centerpiece of its magical festivities. The rink, which employs cutting-edge technology, offers a unique skating experience that requires no water, energy, or carbon emissions—making it a sustainable way to enjoy festive fun. Nestled beside the iconic Orangerie and surrounded by twinkling lights, the ice rink promises unforgettable winter memories for skaters of all ages.
“We’re excited to offer a festive experience that’s not only fun but also environmentally conscious,” said Sophie Barr, Head of Attractions & Events at Dalkeith Country Park. “Our new Glice Eco-Rink is a great way for families to enjoy the magic of Christmas while knowing that they’re treading lightly on the planet.”
More than Just Skating: A WinterFest of Events
Alongside the Ice Rink, WinterFest will host a variety of festive events and activities perfect for the whole family. This year, Dalkeith Country Park introduces A Tale with Santa, a magical group storytelling session where Santa himself brings the joy of Christmas to life inside The Christmas Cabin. Children will have the chance to enjoy a festive story, meet Santa in person, and take home a delightful gift. Elf Storytelling also makes its return due to popular demand, with the mischievous elf leading fun-filled sessions perfect for little ones. For more festive fun, Kids’ Christmas Workshops offer creative activities like crafting and making cards, ensuring children stay entertained and immersed in the festive spirit. Adults can get festive with Wreath Making Workshops, while families enjoy Breakfast with Santa in The Kitchen at Restoration Yard.
The much-loved Elf & Santa Dash has been given a fresh twist this year, becoming the Festive Doddie Dash, now supporting My Name’5 Doddie Foundation – The Park’s charity partner. All profits from the event will go directly to the foundation, which is dedicated to raising funds for motor neuron disease (MND) research. Participants can still expect the same festive fun, but now with an added charitable cause at its heart.
Shop, Dine, and Unwind at the Restoration Yard
After a day of skating and festive activities, visitors can explore the beautifully decorated Restoration Yard. Offering a wide selection of unique Christmas gifts, festive treats, and a seasonal dining experience, it’s the perfect place to wrap up your visit to WinterFest.
