Emma Little, the Chief Executive of Edinburgh-headquartered venue finding agency ExecSpace, has joined an expert panel for the inaugural EventIt Best Practice Forums next month.

Little, who founded the business 10 years ago, will take part in a discussion on, ‘Working together to deliver the perfect pitch’, which aims to help buyers and suppliers navigate the complex process of delivering an event within a multi-stakeholder environment.

“I’m really chuffed to be on the panels in both Edinburgh and Glasgow,” she said. “I think it’s a cracking idea of EventIt’s to run those sessions, which will hopefully add value to the audience by involving all parties involved in the process of booking events. I’m really looking forward to it and to working more closely with EventIt this year and into next. It’s a great organisation doing fantastic things for the events industry in Scotland!”

The training days, on October 8-9 in Edinburgh and Glasgow, are aimed at events professionals in Scotland and farther afield, and consist of a series of panel discussions which enable each of the key parties i.e. the suppliers, the venue finding agents, the event management companies and the end users, be they private sector or public sector event planners, to discuss what they see as their role and the challenges facing each when selecting the best combination of suppliers to deliver a specific event.

Delegates will come away from the training days having learned:

  • The role of the different parties involved in an event proposal process;
  • The importance of a clear brief and how this can affect the outcome of the proposal and overall cost;
  • Who the key influencers are in the proposal process and what drives their decisions;
  • Why a code of practice within the industry may benefit all concerned;
  • The importance of feedback to unsuccessful parties and why this must be evaluated against the brief.

Little will be joined by Isabelle Jarmin, from Standard Life Aberdeen, Elise MacDonald, of Lux Events, Greg O’Donnell, of Glasgow Caledonian University and Gilly Anderson, of YOURgb Events Ltd.
