The Event Marketing Association (EMA) – the membership organisation for corporate event planners and marketers – has appointed Charlotte Mitchell as General Manager.

Mitchell will be taking on the day-to-day role in running the industry association EMA-UK; she has spent the last eight years in a corporate events role at Santander and has previously held corporate events roles at Stephenson Harwood, Lehman Brothers, Taylor Wessing and Thomson Reuters.

Richard Waddington, Chairman of the EMA, said: “We’ve been looking for a couple of months now to find someone ‘who fits the bill’ and Charlotte is that person.  She gets what we’re working to develop, sees enormous potential for EMA and wants to be part of that journey. The council members and I look forward to working with her on this new and exciting chapter.”

After returning to work following maternity leave, Mitchell said: “I’ve been looking for a role within the events arena that is both fulfilling and flexible. The EMA role is perfect for me – it is an exciting role, with purpose, challenges and opportunities. I’m delighted to be given this opportunity with EMA and look forward to playing my part in its future.”

EMA-UK also announced this month that ibtm world has signed up as a ‘Gold Partner’ to support the event industry association organisation, joining other partner organisations including London & Partners, CVent and Visit Scotland.

Waddington added: “We’re really excited and grateful to have ibtm world as a new partner; not only will their sponsorship help support the association’s funding, but more importantly the integration of the knowledge, content and insights they can bring to our membership through their shows will be of enormous value. The EMA is a great network where members come together regularly to discuss relevant topics, share insights and evolve best practice. The committee and I are very much looking forward to working with the ibtm world team over the coming months.”
