Scots radio star Edith Bowman and former Girls Aloud band member Nicola Roberts are to perform DJ sets at Musselburgh Racecourse as part of the entertainment for ‘Ladies Day’ on June 1.

The celebrities will entertain crowds from the Main Stage at the Stobo Castle Ladies Day event and will also be judges for a King and Queen of Style fashion competition – with thousands of pounds worth of prizes on offer to winners.

Bowman, who will host an after-racing party at the Edinburgh Gin Garden and Main Stage, said: “Ladies Day at Musselburgh Racecourse is renowned as Scotland’s most glamorous racing day and famed as much for its inimitable atmosphere as its top class horse racing, so I’m really excited to be part of the day.

“I’ve heard there is no holding back when it comes to dress code on the day, so looking forward to checking out this year’s fashion extravaganza; with a trip to NYC for the winning Queen of Style, the pressure is on! After an exciting day of racing, I’ll be continuing the celebrations from my DJ booth at the after party.” 

Roberts, who will be handing out the Queen of Style award with Bowman, added: “I’m super excited to fly into Edinburgh to join one of the biggest parties Scotland has to offer this summer. I look forward to soaking up the excitement and glamour.”

The Musselburgh Racecourse team are introducing an Edinburgh Gin Garden, which will feature botanical displays with a festival vibe, with live atmospheric music throughout the day, ample seating, an exciting and innovative Edinburgh Gin bar. 

There will also be a new Photo-Finish Marquee where racegoers can dance their heart out between races. Acclaimed entertainers, The Funkwagen will be setting the party seen for the day with a variety of exciting DJ’s taking to the decks, adding a little bit of awesome to one of Scotland’s biggest summer parties. The Funkwagen will also host an after-racing party.
