Carlo Zoccali has taken over as President of the UK International Live Events Association chapter, following the organisation’s End of Term Report for the live events industry.
The report was presented to ILEA members last month, at an industry showcase at DSTRKT, in London’s West End, which saw over 140 industry professionals enjoy a showcase of all things ILEA.
Joining Carlo on his board are Rui Cruz Alves (TFI Group), Martin James (Martin James Photography), Caitlin Kobrak (GPJ), Georgia Toppin (The Barbican), Priya Narain (Boulevard Events) and Mark Stormont (Stormont London). Alongside them will be some other familiar faces TBA and an advisory committee, as the association looks to continue its promise to represent the very best of the experiential industry; be it venues, agencies or suppliers.
In his opening address, Carlo committed to take on the vision set out by the association in 2016, which carried on through last year’s Presidential year under Alistair Turner. The board will once again be committed to representing the part of the events industry that best understands its value to business and brands.
“No one is talking about the industry in the way we are, or representing the future growth of the industry in the same way,” said Zoccali. “We want to make sure we keep on offering the best experiences for members, but also to be at the cutting edge of industry trends, conversation and growth.”
In his parting words, Alistair underlined ILEA UK’s support for industry wellness, and the association’s leadership in the forthcoming campaign to address mental health and wellbeing issues within the events community.
“This is the industry’s darkest little secret and we need to blow it wide open,” said Turner. “In the past few months we’ve heard from so many event professionals that are really struggling in this area. Every time we bring the issue up we hear even more. It’s a major issue and one we want to bring to light, and help the industry address.”
As part of the showcase evening, Song Division turned the ILEA End of Term Report into a song, which they sang and recorded live for the guests on the evening. To find that, and more highlights from the evening, follow ILEA UK on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
