Cathleen Crichton-Stuart, Director of Bute Yard said

As a multi-use venue, we’ve hosted everything from Drag Bingo to pizza pop-ups and Burns Night suppers. The team and I are really looking forward to another year of monthly markets as a highlight of our events calendar. Having a purpose built kitchen for pop-up catering and guest chefs is something we’re really looking to build on this year and would love to be approached by chefs and restaurants across the country. It brings us so much joy to be able to open the doors to the space and welcome passionate food, drink and craft makers and chefs to each market. We hope people can come along to visit and explore the island, it really is a hidden gem of Scotland.”

Known for its mild climate, the Isle of Bute was a popular holiday destination throughout the Victorian period to the present day, with dramatic hills, stunning sandy beaches and a thriving community of small businesses in Rothesay. The island can be reached by a short 40-minute ferry journey from Wemyss Bay, operated by CalMac, which connects with regular linked trains to Glasgow Central Station operated by ScotRail. Located in the heart of Rothesay, Bute Yard is accessible within a few minutes walking distance of the ferry terminal. Bute Yard is always open to approaches from businesses looking to move to the island permanently and chefs or restaurants looking to hold pop-up events, the team can be contacted directly on the website for further information.
