Aberdeen Convention & Events Bureau welcomed 50 of the UK’s top academic event industry professionals to Aberdeen for a two-day conference to share industry best practice on 1 to 2 May.
The Aberdeen Convention & Events Bureau, which is part of the Great Ambassador Networking Group, hosted the conference which was attended by the national tourism bodies, Visit Britain, Failte Ireland, Visit Wales and Visit Scotland. The event was also attended by universities, convention bureaux, venues and destinations from throughout the country.
Per Morten Haarr, Convention Director of Region Stavanger Convention Bureau provided the key note address. He said: “It is important to ensure there is a clear strategy, particularly with second tier cities to plan their growth from within their city strengths. Engaging with the local community and celebrating local Ambassadors has put the Stavanger Ambassador Programme on the map.”
Laurie Scott, head of the Aberdeen Convention & Events Bureau said: “The Ambassador Network is an important gateway for the bureau and is imperative in the bidding, winning and supporting of conferences. Aberdeen now has a world class event complex at TECA, and by hosting events like this we are positioning ourselves at the forefront of the industry where we can attract high spending delegates to the region.”
