Scotland is set to host a new trade expo showcasing the £1bn national forestry industry.

Forestry Expo Scotland 2019 will be a ‘unique harvesting demonstration and trade event brought to you jointly by Forestry Journal, the leading Forestry magazine in the industry, several global machine manufacturers and Rural Projects, a noted public event and trade exhibition organiser’.

The two-day event, which will be held near Biggar, South Lanarkshire, in August, has been established to promote and support the Scottish forestry industry.  The Scottish Forestry industry generates over £1 billion to the economy and ‘the eyes of the forestry world will be on Scotland as it showcases the industry’, say organisers.

Visitors will be able to view the latest in timber harvesting technology working at full capacity across the event duration.  It is anticipated over 10,000 cubic metres will be harvested during the event; the event will also host 120 trade stands and hopes to attract up to 5,000 visitors, both from the UK and overseas.

Building on the successes from Forestry Harvesting Demo 2014, the event is backed by the four dominant global manufacturers, John Deere, Komatsu, Ponsse & Tigercat and will also feature a further 100 exhibitors showcasing the very latest in all aspects of timber growing and processing technology.

The harvesting demonstrations will provide an opportunity to experience forestry machinery and equipment at work, and to also discuss ideas with leading industry experts.  Watch the machines working to full capacity clearing the 10,000t of standing timber, making this a truly unique forestry event for Scotland, the UK and Europe.

Managing Director of Rural Projects, Martin Dare, said: “We are extremely pleased and proud to be working closely with Forestry Journal and our key sponsors to deliver this first Forestry Expo.  This exciting new event will provide the perfect platform for anyone working in the industry.  The Little Clyde location allows two days of skilled harvesting demostrations complimented by the adjacent exhibition area.”

Magazine Publisher, Darren Bruce, said: “We believe Forestry Expo Scotland bridges a gap in the market place and highlights all that is unique and innovative about the forestry industry, providing a compelling and informative focus specifically to the harvesting sector.”

Forestry Expo 2019 will take place on the 22nd and 23rd August at Little Clyde, Elvanfoot, Biggar, South Lanarkshire ML12 6RL.  Headline and key sponsors of Forestry Expo Scotland include: John Deere, Komatsu, Ponsse, Clark Engineering, Fountains Forestry, Tigercat and Iggesund.
