Parliamentary debate to feature as part of industry leaders forum to boost business events coming to UK

A parliamentary debate will feature as part of a top-level series of engagements aimed at bringing together senior destination leaders to discuss ways of boosting the number of business events coming to the UK.

The Business of Events (TBOE) has today announced its supporting partners for their upcoming series of events which take place during October and November.

Following a successful inaugural event last year, VisitBritain has announced it will again support TBOE as its main event partner for 2018.

Kerrin MacPhie, head of business events at VisitBritain said: “The Business of Events Programme is a valuable opportunity to help make the UK the number one destination for business events internationally.”

“We are pleased to once again support such a key event for the industry, welcoming the exchange of ideas between senior stakeholders in a number of discussions. We want the UK to be the leading destination for meetings and events and know supporting programmes such as The Business of Events, helps to grow the value of the industry, benefiting the economy.”

Joining VisitBritain this year are: VisitScotland Business Events, Cvent, QEII Centre, IBTM, drp, Scottish Event Campus, The Royal Society, Visit Wales and the newly created Aberdeen Convention & Events Bureau.

Events this year include a Parliamentary Debate, on Leadership Reception, Senior leadership Dinner and the main Senior Leadership Forum, which take place on the 24^th and 25^th October.

In addition, PCMA will again bring one of their Knowledge Exchanges to London as part of the programme. For the first time, two regional events will be held, including The Business of Events Wales, which takes place on 5^th October at the Celtic Manor resort, and The Business of Events Scotland, which will be held in November.

The Business of Events (TBOE) is a series of independent cross-sector events designed to engage, support and promote the UK event industry.

Organised in association with VisitBritain, TBOE is also supported by the UK Events Industry Board and the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Events Industry.

It will see senior professionals from across the UK join for a series of discussions and informative sessions, designed to engage, inform and support the UK events sector.
