Convention Edinburgh’s Elaine Miller has been promoted to the role of international association sales manager within the organisation.

Miller, who was previously Ambassador and Association Bid Manager within Marketing Edinburgh’s business tourism team, was described as the ‘ideal candidate’ for the job.

She has 12 years’ industry experience and is set to expand upon her existing global network and knowledge of local ambassadors.

Her task now will be to ‘focus on the important international association sector, with a view to increasing the number of international congresses for the city’.

International association conferences already make a significant economic impact on Edinburgh, last year contributing over £35 million to the region.

Following the appointment of Amanda Ferguson as new Head of Business Tourism in August, Elaine’s move to International Association sales comes at the same time as the recruitment of a new Research and Ambassador Executive who will assist in the day-to-day management of the Edinburgh’s Ambassador Programme, overseen by Elaine.

Elaine Miller, International Association Sales Manager at Convention Edinburgh said: “Over the past 12 years I’ve cemented my position in Business Tourism by successfully managing Edinburgh’s leading Ambassador Programme. This has given me an extensive understanding of the international associations market.

“I’m thrilled to be taking the next step in my career and look forward to utilising my previous experience and client relationships to really hit the ground running in working to raise Edinburgh’s profile within International markets.”

Amanda Ferguson, Head of Business Tourism at Convention Edinburgh said: “Elaine is a key member of the team and over the years she has rightly earned a fantastic reputation amongst our ambassadors, nurturing the Edinburgh Ambassador Programme to be one of the best in Europe. The experience and skillset that Elaine brings to her new role are excellent.

“Our renewed focus on priority markets, including a new business tourism campaign due to launch in the autumn, places Convention Edinburgh in a strong position to move forward and achieve its ambition in securing new conferences for the city, most relevant to Edinburgh’s Centres of Excellence.”
