Aberdeen’s AECC will host ‘possibly its last gig’ before moving to new venue as Rod Stewart confirms fixture next summer

Aberdeen’s AECC will host ‘possibly its last gig’ before moving to a new purpose-built 12,500 seater arena when Scottish rock legend Rod Stewart plays next summer as part of a UK tour.

The ‘Do ya’ think I’m sexy’ star will make an appearance at the city’s ageing venue on Wednesday June 12, 2019, in support of his the release of his 30th studio album Blood Red Roses.

Louise Stewart, Head of Entertainment, Exhibitions and Marketing at AECC, said: “We’re honoured and very excited to welcome Rod Stewart back to Aberdeen; this will possibly be our last gig before we move to our new venue, TECA, in summer 2019.

“Rod was one of our first ever gigs here at AECC back in 1991 and now he’ll be one of the last!

“Having last played Pittodrie in 2011 we’re sure everyone’s ready to give our honorary ‘Scottish Rock Royalty’ a warm welcome and help us end on a high!”

This will be Rod’s first UK tour in three years following the success of two sold-out tours in 2016 – The UK Hits Stadium Tour and the arena tour “From Gasoline Alley to Another Country Hits.”

Rod Stewart Live In Concert will see Rod play the following dates:

  • Fri 31 May Southampton, St Mary’s Stadium
  • Sat 1 June York, York Racecourse
  • Tues 4 June Milton Keynes, Stadium MK
  • Fri 7 June Ipswich, Portman Road Stadium
  • Sat 8 June Wolverhampton, Molineux Stadium
  • Wed 12 June Aberdeen, AECC
  • Fri 14 June Bolton, University of Bolton Stadium

The fully seated tour is being promoted by Cuffe and Taylor whose director Peter Taylor said: “We are delighted to be announcing Rod Stewart Live In Concert. We have presented numerous shows with him over the past five years and this will be our second full tour with him.

“As his fans know, Rod presents the most amazing shows. He continues to play to huge audiences across the globe and it is an absolute pleasure to once again be taking him across the UK once to reach tens of thousands of people who will have the most incredible night watching him perform live.”
